Per Mukhtar, JSC, in Iyoho v. Effiong Esq & Anor (2007) NLC-123-326-2001(SC) at p. 10; Paras D–E:
"A ground of appeal from which no issue has been distilled and upon which no argument have been canvassed is deemed abandoned by an appellant, and so should be struck out."
Explanation / Scope
A ground of appeal is deemed abandoned if no issue is distilled from it and no argument is advanced in support. The court will strike out such abandoned grounds. An appellant must formulate issues from their grounds of appeal and argue them to have them considered.
