Court of Appeal Rules, 2021

These Rules govern the practice and procedure of the Court of Appeal of Nigeria in both its civil and criminal appellate jurisdictions. They revoke and replace the Court of Appeal Rules, 2016. The Rules cover a comprehensive range of matters including service of processes, registries and sessions, powers of the Court, references as to the Constitution, applications, civil appeals, compilation and transmission of records, respondent’s notices, preliminary objections, withdrawal of appeals, fees, proceedings by indigent persons, service of records to the Supreme Court, death of parties, the Court of Appeal Alternative Dispute Resolution Programme (CAADRP), criminal appeals, appeals from Courts Martial and Tribunals, briefs of argument, electronic filing, virtual hearing, case scheduling and management, judgments, vacation, and miscellaneous provisions.
