Section 21 β Exclusion of discrimination on account of race, religion, etc.
(1) No person shall be required to satisfy the requirements as to any of the following matters, that is to say, race (including ethnic grounding), sex, place of birth or family origin, religious or political convictions, or membership of a particular association or organisation, as a condition ofβ
(a) admission as a student of the University; or
(b) appointment to any office or employment in the University; or
(c) the award of any degree, diploma, certificate or other award or distinction of the University; or
(d) the enjoyment of any privilege or facility accorded to members of the University or any section thereof.
(2) Nothing in subsection (1) of this section shall be construed as preventing the University fromβ
(a) making special arrangements for the admission of students or the appointment of staff from any part of Nigeria in order to ensure a fair and equitable distribution of the opportunities afforded by the University; or
(b) requiring any person to satisfy the requirements as to health or physical fitness.
