Section 28 — Interpretation

(1) In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires—

“campus” means any campus which may be established by the University;

“college” means any college which may be established by the University;

“Council” means the Council established pursuant to section 2 (1) (b) of this Act for the University;

“graduate” means a person on whom a degree, other than an honorary degree, has been conferred by the University;

“Minister” means the Minister charged with responsibility for matters relating to higher education;

“notice” means notice in writing;

“office” does not include the Visitor;

“prescribed” means prescribed by Statutes or regulations;

“President” means the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria;

“professor” means a person designated as a professor of the University in accordance with provisions made in that behalf by Statute or by regulations;

“Registrar” means the Registrar of the University;

“Senate” means the Senate established pursuant to section 2 (1) (c) of this Act;

“Statute” means a Statute made by the University under section 11 of this Act;

“University” means the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi established by section 1 (1) of this Act.

(2) For the purposes of this Act, the expression “the Provisional Council” means the Provisional Council of the University.
